TEACHINGS
"Divine Life is a synthesis of service, devotion and knowledge."
Swami Sivananda

"There may be ups and downs, storms and stresses, smiles and tears,
as you go on living your life amidst its many vicissitudes, trials
and tribulations. Do not lose faith but press on with a firm conviction
that God wants to mould you in His own image through sufferings
and tribulations."
Swami Sivananda
_____________
"Work done for the individual good binds; work done for the common
good releases your soul."
Swami Sivananda

"Yoga science has two aspects: physical and spiritual. To a Yogi,
health means absence of disease and of old age, for old age and
death are the inevitable results of disease. Yoga aims to remove
the root cause of all diseases, not to treat its symptoms as medical
science generally attempts to do." Swami Vishnu-devananda, Complete
Illustrated Book of Yoga, 1959
_____________
"The aim of spiritual life is not merely to know about God but to
become God." Swami Sivananda
_____________
"Check the outgoing tendencies of the mind and direct them inward." Swami
Sivananda
_____________
"The expression of the spirit increases in proportion to the development
of the body or mind in which it is encased. Therefore Yoga prescribes
methods to train and develop the physical body and mind. The highly trained
body must first of all be strong and healthy. The goal of all Yogic teaching
is how to concentrate the mind, how to discover its hidden facets,
and how to awaken the inner spiritual faculties. .... By learning to control
the body we can easily train the mind. " Swami Vishnu-devananda, the

"For the vedantin the whole universe is made up of one infinite ocean
of love. This infinite love manifested in the material world is
the finite human love. When in the material world this infinite
love is broken down and limited to anything less than the entire
world, say to family, friends, and even neighbors, but not to every
single creature and object as an extension of oneself, then it
is known as finite or human love. Finite love is always associated
with its opposite, hatred. In the infinite love of a God-realized
soul, there is no hatred.
.... Realization of this love and oneness with God is superconsciousness." Swami
Vishnu-devananda, The complete Illustrated Book of Yoga", 1959
